On Working

I’m rarely the kind of person who suffers anxiety, but being out of work for a little while was awfully stressful.

Fortunately, things are looking up. I’m working again. I’ll be working a variety of jobs, keeping busy, keeping variety in my work life. Eventually, I’ll want something 9-5, something full time, some single thing that’s really, really stable. But that’s not me, not right now. And it took a while to realize that.

It sucks to be anxious about money, and I’m glad that that’s coming to an end (at least to the degree I have been lately). I want to be able to devote more emotional energy to the things that really matter.

Know what one of the great benefits of one of my jobs is? Time. It’s intermittently busy and very, very mellow. Time to write, time to draw. I should be able to get two or three of these one-sheets up a week, with buffer to spare, just by virtue of the fact that I’ll be working regularly.

And, the best part? I’ll be able to afford a bazillion new pens. Awesome.

What do you like about your job? What fringe benefits are you finding?

Paddle your own canoe, folks.
